Fredrik Haren ON Episode 2
In the 2nd episode of Fredrik Haren ON,
Fredrik talks about about the need for variation in ones life.
A week that had Fredrik see different industries, audiences, places – even seasons.
Watch the video here:
Seeing the 4 corners of the world as a global speaker
In a 7-day-period in may I flew from Singapore to Montreux, Switzerland to speak to fund managers from Europe. Then I flew to Jacksonville, Florida, USA to speak to accountants. And then I flew to Lagos, Nigeria to speak to clients of a big global bank. I also did a speech for medical professionals.
I can not think of 4 places that are more different on this earth than these four places that I got to see in one week.
Here is a video of what I learnt by speaking in such different places: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qU5QSYfRUt8&feature=youtu.be.
I also got to speak in Hong Kong, Singapore and Brussels. So May was, again, a truly global month for me as a speaker – which of course makes total sense since I am the author of One World. One Company – about about Truly Global Companies…
One of only 24 CSPGlobal Speakers in the world
I recently found out that I have achieved the designation of CSPGlobal. There are 10,000’s of professional speakers in the world. But less than 4,900 are members of any Speaker Association. Out of those, less than 700 are Certified Professional Speakers (CSP’s). And out of those, just 24 are CSPGlobal. I am proud to be part of the first batch of speakers who got it by passing the criteria needed set up for what it means to be a global professional speaker.
(If you want to learn how you too can become a global speaker, you can check out this speech I did a while back : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU3Rya1A9W0.)
Fredrik Haren ON : Episode 1
I would like to share some short videos about the things that I learned while working with a client somewhere in the world as a global speaker.
This is video 1, about my speech at the Luxottica Asia Conference in Phuket, Thailand.
Presenting Fredrik Haren ON : Episode 1: On Looking at things differently.
A month of extremes for a Global Professional Speaker
The month of March was a month of extremes for a global professional speaker like me.
I got to be the keynote speaker at the Global Dealer Conference for Bentley in London and I also got to speak for university students in Lithuania.
I got to speak for Swedish pub owners as well as for hotel managers in Singapore and I also got to speak for the global internet marketing team of MINI cars at a conference in Munich.
I got to go to Bali twice. Once to speak for bankers, once to speak for the partners of Kodak Alaris.
One of the best things of being a global professional speaker is that you get to experience so many different cultures, industries and environments.
One day I got off the stage in a luxury hotel in central London to speak with a Bentley dealer from Saudi Arabia and less than 24 hours later, I was in a Hyatt Resort in Bali talking to Asian bankers.
It was also a month of extremes when it came to traveling. In 50 hours I got to see the airports of: Manila, Taipei, Amsterdam, Munich, Paris, Hong Kong and then back to Manila again. But I also had more than 10 days of Paternity leave with my two kids where I did not travel at all.
A short, but intense month took a speaker around the world.
February was a short month but I still managed to be the speaker for conferences and events that happened in Seoul, Korea; Manila, the Philippines; Jakarta, Indonesia; Munich, Germany and Oslo, Norway – and of course Singapore.
I spoke for such diverse groups as the clients of EY, the delegates of the global sales conference of BMW and for managers of Tesco in Asia and many other groups. The groups might have been different; the countries, industries and events too, but they all had the same thing in common: a keen interest to know more about the world of ideas and the ideas of business.
(ps. The best speaker gift of 2014 was – by far – the kick-bike that the MAN CEO handed over to me to give to my son. Talk about being a hero when he came back from that trip.)
As the Chinese new year approaches Fredrik gets to summarise the first month of 2014.
What does producers of luxury sunglasses (Luxottica): the producers of rubber seals (Trelleborg) as well as the largest mobile phone company in the Philippines (Smart) have in common?
Not much most people will say. But they all invited Fredrik Härén to speak to them in January of 2014. It is amazing how the theme of business creativity is universal – it is really needed in all industries, and in all parts of the world.
Inspiring Ideas. Globally.
For me 2013 was the “global year”. I launched my new book – One World. One Company – about being a Truly Global Company. And then I set out to travel the world to speak. It turned out to be a pretty global year. Here are some statistics about my 2013:
* I spoke in 26 different (!) countries just last year
* 92.6% of my paid speeches in 2013 where outside my “home country” of Singapore.
* +45% of my speeches in 2013 where outside my home continent of Asia.
* I passed 50 countries spoken in in 2013
* I spoke on 5 continents in 2013 (and have spoken on 6 in total as a professional speaker.)
* I boarded 137 flights that took med to speak in 37 different cities
* I spent 700 hours on planes in 8 months (which is the same as a professional airline pilot (I had 4 months of in 2013 as I was on paternity leave, so I did the above in 8 months.)
* And finally, I spoke on “How to be a global speaker” at the “Global Speaker Summit” 😉
It was a great year. A fun year. And a global year!
I did some videos about the crazy, global year of 2013.
You can find them here:
My three favourite ones are:
I hope these videos, and my book, will encourage people to have a more global mindset. It has never been more important – or valuable – to think globally than now.
